This scheme is open to farmers belonging to all communities.
Applicant must have Pahani of the land where planting is being proposed.
Registration should be done before the commencement of the rainy season (by the end of May).
The following species of trees are not eligible for payment of incentive amount- Eucalyptus, Acacia, Silver Oak (if planted in coffee estate), Casuarina, Cassia siamea (Seemetangadi), Gliricidia, Sesbania, Erythrina, Rubber, Subabul, Coconut, Arecanut, Orange, all types of citrus species and grafted mango.

What are the benefits given to farmers?
Farmers are provided seedlings at subsidized rates from the nearest nurseries of the Forest Department for planting in their lands.
How much amount is given as an incentive?
The farmers are paid an amount of Rs 35 as an incentive for every surviving seedling at the end of the first year. A sum of Rs 40 and Rs 50 per seedling is provided for each surviving seedling after the completion of the second and third year respectively.
Is there any provision for training under this scheme?

What should be done if seedlings applied for are not available in the nearby nursery?
In case the seedlings which had been applied for are not available in the nearby nursery, a written endorsement to that effect should be obtained from the concerned in-charge staff of the nursery.
