Quantitative Aptitude: Tables
This topic is super important for the Lakshadweep Forest Guard exam! Learning your "Tables" (also called multiplication tables) makes math much easier and faster.
1. What are Tables? (A Simple Start)
Imagine you have many groups of the same thing.
- You have 3 baskets.
- Each basket has 4 fish.
How many fish do you have in total?
You could count them: 1, 2, 3, 4 (first basket), then 5, 6, 7, 8 (second basket), then 9, 10, 11, 12 (third basket). Total 12 fish.
Tables are a FAST way to do this counting! Instead of counting one by one, you just know the answer.
In our fish example, you would use the "4 times table": 3 groups of 4 fish = 12 fish This is written as: 3 x 4 = 12
A "table" is just a list of answers when you multiply numbers.
- 1 x 4 = 4
- 2 x 4 = 8
- 3 x 4 = 12
- ...and so on!
Think of it like this: If you know "3 times 4 is 12", you don't need to count the fish every time. You just know the total!
2. Why Are Tables So Important for Your Exam?
Learning tables well is like having a superpower for math!
- Super Speed: You can solve problems much, much faster. No more slow counting.
