Logical Reasoning: Statement & Assumption

1. Simple Explanation

In "Statement & Assumption" questions, you are given a Statement (a fact, an observation, or a decision). Following the statement, you'll find one or more Assumptions.

An Assumption is something taken for granted or supposed to be true without proof in order for the statement to be valid or make sense. It's the unsaid premise or the hidden belief that the speaker or author holds when making that particular statement.

Your task is to determine which of the given assumptions is implicit (i.e., implied or inherent) in the statement. If an assumption is implicit, it means the statement cannot stand logically without that assumption being true.

Think of it this way: Why would someone say/do X? What must they be believing for X to be a sensible thing to say/do? That belief is the assumption.
