REET – Foundation & Exam Strategy

Study Plan: A Rigorous, IIT‑JEE‑style Blueprint

Goal:
Create a data‑driven, time‑efficient study plan that maximises marks while minimising stress.
The plan is dynamic – it can be tweaked after each mock test.

1. Exam Overview (Why the plan matters)

Feature Details Implication for the Plan
Pattern 3‑subject test: Physics (30), Chemistry (30), Mathematics (30) – 90 marks total. 3 hrs 45 mins. Equal weight → equal focus, but sub‑topic weight differs.
Syllabus 2013‑2023 syllabus (same as JEE Main, but without Biology & Engineering). Familiarity with each chapter is mandatory.
Marks per Question 1 mark per correct answer, 1/4 negative. Speed is crucial; 1.5‑2 min per question on average.
Time per Question ( \frac{225\text{ min}}{90\text{ qns}} \approx 2.5 \text{ min} ) Allocate 2‑3 min per question, leaving buffer for difficult problems.

Takeaway: 90 marks → 225 min → ~2.5 min/question.
The study plan must guarantee speed by practice, revision, and mental conditioning.

2. Goal‑Setting & Milestones

  1. Define a Target Score

    • Example: 1100 out of 1200 (top 5 % of candidates).
    • Convert to math marks: Math = 30 → 30 × (1100/1200) ≈ 27.5 marks.
  2. Set a Timeline

    • 12‑Month Plan (if starting now)
      • Month 1–3: Fundamentals & concept building.
      • Month 4–8: Problem solving & chapter‑wise revision.
      • Month 9–10: Mock tests & analysis.
      • Month 11: Final polish & mental conditioning.
      • Month 12: Exam week.
  3. Weekly & Monthly Milestones

    Month Milestone Hours/Week Outcome
    1–3 Master 100 % of fundamentals 35 hrs Build a knowledge base
4–5 Complete 90 % of chapter questions 30 hrs Strengthen problem style
    6–7 Solve 200 + mock questions 25 hrs Build speed & accuracy
8–9 High‑quality mock tests (30 hrs) 20 hrs Identify weak links
10–11 Revision & doubt clearing 20 hrs Consolidate & mental readiness
    12 Light revision & mock 15 hrs Exam‑day readiness

Tricky point: Do not treat the 12‑month plan as a fixed script.
Use feedback loops – after each mock test, adjust the plan.

3. Periodization: Macro / Meso / Micro

Level Focus Duration Key Activities
Macro Overall syllabus coverage 12 months Structured syllabus map, weekly timetable
Meso Subject‑wise depth 4–5 months per subject Chapter‑wise problem sets, conceptual notes
Micro Daily/weekly practice 1–4 weeks Time‑boxed drills, revision, spaced repetition

Derivation of Study Hours
Let total available study time be T hours (e.g., 30 hrs/week).
Let w_i be weight (marks) of subject i.
Allocation formula:
[ \text{Hours}_i = T \times \frac{w_i}{\sum w_i} ] Since all subjects weight equally, each gets T/3 hours per week.
Adjust using w_i if you want to focus on a weaker subject (e.g., Physics: 0
