Guide
How resume tailoring works
Smart Tailoring creates a copy of your current resume for one job. AI rewrites the professional summary to match the job description, and up to 5 keywords from the job post that are missing from your skills are added. The original resume stays unchanged.
How to use it
- Verify your email once (free, no password) so the tailored version can be saved.
- Paste the target job description.
- Click Tailor My Resume.
- Open the new version in the builder, review the summary and remove any keyword that does not reflect your real skills.
Who it is for
- Applicants sending one resume to several different roles
- Career switchers reframing their summary for a new field
- Anyone who wants a separate version per application
What you get
- A new resume version for the job
- A rewritten summary aligned with the job post
- Missing keywords added to skills
Limitations. Tailoring changes the summary and skills only. It does not rewrite your experience bullets. Review every change: keywords should only stay if they are true for you.
Frequently asked questions
Does tailoring overwrite my resume?
No. It saves a new version with "(Tailored)" in its name and keeps your original resume as it was.
Why do I need to verify my email?
The tailored resume is saved as a new version in your account, so the tool needs a verified email. Verification is free and uses a one-time code.
What exactly changes?
The professional summary is rewritten for the job, and up to 5 missing keywords from the job description are added to your skills.
Should I tailor my resume for every job?
For roles you care about, yes. Matching the summary and skills to the job post usually makes your resume more relevant to both the ATS and the recruiter.
