What is the DNS Records Lookup?
DNS (Domain Name System) translates a domain name into the servers behind it. This lookup queries a domain’s main record types — A and AAAA (IPv4 and IPv6 addresses), MX (mail servers), TXT (verification, SPF and DMARC), NS (name servers) and CNAME (aliases) — and shows them in one table.
Why it matters for SEO
DNS is where websites go down, emails start bouncing and verification fails. When you move hosting, set up Google Workspace, verify a domain in Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, or configure SPF and DMARC, a DNS lookup confirms the change is actually live.
How to read your DNS Records Lookup results
A records should point at your current web host. MX records must match your email provider. TXT records hold SPF (v=spf1 …), DMARC (on _dmarc) and verification tokens. NS records show which provider controls the zone — edits must be made there.
Expert tips
- DNS changes can take minutes to hours to spread because of TTL caching.
- Keep only one SPF TXT record per domain.
- Lower the TTL a day before a planned hosting move.
- Use the Website Lookup tool to see DNS together with hosting and SSL.
Limitations
Checks only the single URL you enter, as our server fetches it. It does not crawl the whole site, run JavaScript, or see pages behind a login.
